Open to software engineering roles

Nick ReaverFull-stack developer.

I build web apps end to end: Postgres schemas, serverless APIs, React and Next.js frontends, and a Java plugin that reads data straight out of a live game client. Four projects shipped, all live in production.

Ironed Out invite page for a Saturday outing at Mount Pleasant Golf Course, with a hand-drawn course illustration, the price and note, and the start of the tee sheet showing 4 of 12 spots open

Full-stack · Multi-tenant · Mobile-first

Ironed Out

Organizes golf outings. The organizer books a few tee times, drops one link in the group chat, and friends claim spots from their phones with a texted code. No account needed.

  • Race-safe claiming with row locks and unique constraints, so two friends can never get the same spot
  • Postgres Row-Level Security per tenant, built API-first for booking platforms to plug into later
  • A "Since you last looked" change feed driven by an append-only event log
  • Argon2id accounts, hashed one-time codes, signed device cookies, and generated link-preview images

Clog Casino

Shows how lucky or unlucky an Old School RuneScape player was for every collection log drop. It compares their kill count with the drop rate and with every other tracked player.

  • A RuneLite plugin in Java that reads the in-game collection log and reports drops as they happen
  • Nine Supabase Edge Functions in TypeScript, with token registration and anti-cheat checks on incoming drops
  • A luck calculation engine made of pure functions and checked against known probability values
  • A Next.js App Router frontend with player search and side-by-side comparison of up to five players

KeepTrack

A shared ledger that friends use to track wins and losses across any game or competition. Groups, members and scores update live for everyone.

  • Supabase Auth, Realtime and Storage, so every member of a group sees score changes instantly
  • Server data managed with TanStack Query, and app state with Zustand
  • Forms validated with React Hook Form and Zod
  • Component and unit tests with Vitest and Testing Library

Nexus

A campaign management system for a Dungeons & Dragons group, with a party roster, a treasury ledger, a loot tracker and session logs. Everyone can view it, and only an admin can make changes.

  • Built with no framework: plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript backed by Supabase
  • Read-only public mode, with editing locked behind admin login
  • Treasury that handles custom currencies, transactions and loot splits
  • Pure calculation functions covered by the Node test runner

About

I'm a software developer at MdE-Inc, where I've worked since 2019 on SaaS platforms used by law enforcement leadership and 911 dispatch centers. That work runs on .NET, Adobe ColdFusion and large MSSQL databases, and it has to meet government standards for security, data integrity and uptime.

Outside work I build with a modern stack: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase and Postgres. I make tools for the groups I'm part of, including my tabletop group, my friends' rivalries and the Old School RuneScape community. Each one started as a real problem people had, and each one is live in production.

I also hold the Google Cybersecurity Professional certificate, so I think about security from the first design decision rather than adding it at the end.
